UFO Update
To all who have sent their pledges and prayers for Baby Ted, thank you. To those who have asked how they can donate, I’ve got two options. First, another friend of the family has set up a donation fund at Silver State Schools Credit Union. The fund name is The Jason Theodore Williams Fund. You can mail a check made out to The Jason Theodore Williams Fund – Account 77861-0037 (be sure to include the account number on your check) and mail it to Silver State Schools Credit Union, P.O. Bo 12037, Las Vegas, NV 89112-0037. You can also use your bank’s online bill payer to make a ‘payment’ to this account.
A few of you have said that you would prefer to use PayPal. The family friend who set up the bank account is undergoing outpatient (?!) heart surgery today…when it rains it pours I guess, so rather than ask him to to any more financial wrangling, you can make a PayPal payment to my e-mail address (amber at lambandfrog dot [youknow]) and, when the contest closes, I will send one big check to the family from all of us (knitting novices and other lamb and frog readers). I am keeping a spreadsheet of everyone who has sent prayers and made pledges for the contest and I will include a nicely printed list of names and locations (where I have them) with the check. You will also receive an e-mail confirmation and thank you from me. Your donation will not be going into my pocket (uh…I’m still trying to balance karma from my misspent youth, I don’t need to bring any more bad mojo down on my head). God has blessed my life and I have as much money as I need (with some left over for yarn). So, if you are able and willing to send a little financial mojo to Baby Ted and his family, please do…it’s amazing how those little donations can make a big difference.
At the end of the contest I will do a blog post that includes the total number of people who pledged their prayers and the total amount raised along with the contest winners so that everyone can see how much we all accomplished for Ted. If you do send a check instead of PayPal, it would be great if you could let me know so I can add your amount to my totals. The amounts of individual donations will not be published, just the overall total.
If you’re still ‘on the fence’ about donating, here’s a note from the friend who set up the donation fund:
Because of your inquiries, and because Jason and Nancy are indeed facing an unexpected and challenging financial situation that accompanies this type of hardship– loss of Nancy’s income, exorbitant medical bills, long-term lodging, and childcare for Amber for when they’re visiting Baby Ted — a donation fund has been established to help them. It’s been named the Jason Theodore Williams Fund. If you know anything about Jason and Nancy, you know it will be difficult for them to accept help of this nature. Jason is quite the fiscal pragmatist, yet I don’t think any family can really prepare for the costs they’re facing.
Thank you so much. Your graciousness will make Ted’s rough start so much more bearable for Jason and Nancy. Unless you specifically request anonymity in a separate letter enclosed with your donation, the Williams will be informed of your gift.
Finally, the last update on Ted’s web site was at 6 o’clock last night. I’m sorry to report it wasn’t good news. Ted has a bacterial infection that has caused his doctors to postpone a necessary heart surgery. He’s got other issues as well. Even more than your donations, he continues to need your prayers. Thank you all.
Amber
P.S. I will have an FO report tomorrow (but I’ve been a crap knitting slacker again).
